Five loaves, two fishes,
one child’s small picnic -
offered to Jesus,
food grew and grew.
People kept asking,
“Where has this come from?”
Jesus had fed them,
that’s all they knew.
Those in the large crowd
might have gone hungry;
Hillsides are lonely,
late was the hour.
Jesus provided –
much was left over;
Thousands had plenty
through divine power.
We too can offer
small things to Jesus.
He can make of them
more than we know.
Whether we’re young or
whether we’re older
Jesus can use our
small gifts to grow.
